Oilers’ Draisaitl becomes third-fastest player to hit 100 career playoff points

Draisaitl achieved the milestone with a two-assist performance during the Oilers’ Game 6 matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. He first helped open the scoring in the first period by dishing the puck to Dylan Holloway, who then flew down the ice in a solo effort for the goal. Then, he hit the 100-point milestone with less than seven minutes left in the game by winning a faceoff to Evander Kane, who sniped it right off the hop to make it 5-1 and put the game out of reach.

With the two assists, Draisaitl reached the 100-point plateau in just his 60th game, with 39 goals and 61 assists making up that total. He becomes the third-fastest player in NHL history to hit the milestone, with only Wayne Gretzky (46 games) and Mario Lemieux (50 games) doing so quicker.

With both assists coming at even strength, Draisaitl achieved another feat with the performance. After the conclusion of Game 6, he now ranks first all-time in 5v5 playoff points per 60 minutes in his career amongst players who have time on ice tracked.

The two assists have been a part of another incredible playoff performance from Draisaitl this year, as he now has 8 goals and 15 assists for 23 points in just 11 games. With that total, Draisaitl leads all players in the playoffs in points, and is third in goals and second in assists.

This is coming off a slightly down year for Draisaitl in the regular season, or at least by his lofty standards, as he had 41 goals and 65 assists for 106 points in 81 games played. Those totals were the fewest points Draisaitl has had in a full season since 2018-19, and it’s also the first time he hasn’t finished in the top five in scoring since 2017-18.
